Valentines Day Carnation Sale – Forms were sent home with all students last week with information on how you can buy carnations for $1 each for your loved ones.  All forms and money are due no later than Thursday, February 2nd.

Creation Class – Cat Flaherty will be starting her next Art session on Wednesday, February 15th after school.  Creation Class is where 2nd – 8th grade students can express themselves through different types of media such as painting, collage, pastels and more! The inspiration for this class is Genesis 1 when God “created”!  Classes will begin after school on Wednesday, February 15th.  Students must be picked up at 4:30pm.  Each class is $15.  Payment is due at the beginning of each class.  The schedule for lessons is as follows:  Watercolor Magic from February through March and Mixed Media from April through May.  The first class is free if you bring all necessary supplies (to be announced soon)!

Teens for Jeans – 1 in 3 homeless people in the U.S. is under the age of 18, and one of the first items they ask for when reaching a shelter is jeans. You can do something about teen homeless. From January 16 to February 12, we are collecting jeans for homeless teens.  There is a box in the school lobby for you to put your jeans.  There are also coupons for 25% off your next pair of jeans at Aeropostale when you donate a pair of jeans to the box.  The school that collects the most jeans wins $5,000, new Aeropostale jeans for EVERY student and a party!

BOX TOPS FOR EDUCATION DUE!! – Parents, we want to thank you for everyone that has donated their Box Tops for Education to our school.  So far this year we have made a little over $300 turning in the box tops.  We are a little behind where we were last year so we are trying to make it fun by attaching some collection sheets for the kids to fill in.  Each collection sheet has 10 spaces on it.  The kids can tape or glue their box tops on these sheets and then color them and turn them into the school office.  All box tops are due by February 25th.

 

 

HOMECOMING GAME

Friday, February 10th is Eagle’s Nest’s Homecoming Game at 4:00pm.  Eagle’s Nest will be playing Epworth Christian Academy.  Everyone is invited to the basketball game, including all ENCA graduates, HOWEVER, the after game activities are only for Epworth players and Eagle’s Nest’s 5th through 8th graders.    NO SIBLINGS PLEASE!  The Eagle’s Nest Alumni are invited to the party after the game as well, but they would just need to pay $1 per slice of pizza.  There will be people here to monitor the after game activities which will be over at 8:30pm, so parents can pick their children up then.  PLEASE RSVP by FEBRUARY 1ST to the sports department so we can have a count for food.

Staff appreciation meetingThe next staff appreciation meeting will be Friday, February 10th at 8:15am in the cafeteria.  Please be sure to attend the meeting if you are interested in helping out with the Staff Appreciation week which is held March 26 – March 30.  Jenn Humes and a few others will be sitting in the school lobby after school a few days to get parents to sign up to help out with different things for the Staff Appreciation Week.  Please be sure to stop by and see Jenn and the others to see how you can help them out.

 Our annual oldies but goodies basketball game will be held on Friday, February 17th at 6:00pm.  The class with the most attendance to the game will win a free dress down day!  Stay tuned for more details.

Non-Related School Items

Indoor Yard Sale – There will be an indoor yard sale at Wesley United Methodist Church on Saturday, February 4th from 7:00am to 2:00pm sponsored by Girl Scout Troop 95.  Spaces are available for $10 (size is 10’ by 15’ with a table).  For more information, please see the flyer in the school community bulletin board in the school lobby.  You can also contact Nikki Hazel at 302-858-6947 or email her at nhazel@dtcc.edu or Louise Rathfon at 302-337-7668.  The proceeds from the yard sale will go towards cost of several Girl Scout activities.

Guinea pig needs good home. Free guinea pig with cage, food, bedding, etc. Looking for loving family to take good care of it. Please call Kathy at 684-8155 if you are interested.

“A Time To Dance” – Cheri Yerkes is teaching 3 different types of dancing classes for little girls.  There is “Mommy & Me” for 6 months to 3 years, Ballet for 9 years old to 15 years old and Jazz for 9 years old to 15 years old.  If you are interested, please pick up a pink flyer from the information table in the school lobby or contact Cheri Yerkes at 228-7413 or email her at cheriyerkes@comcast.net
