RACE FOR EDUCATION PACKETS WILL BE GOING HOME NEXT WEEK!

Creation Class – Cat Flaherty will be starting her next Art session on Wednesday, February 15^th after school.  Creation Class is where 2^nd – 8^th grade students can express themselves through different types of media such as painting, collage, pastels and more! The inspiration for this class is Genesis 1 when God “created”!  Classes will begin after school on Wednesday, February 15^th.  Students must be picked up at 4:30pm.  Each class is $15.  Payment is due at the beginning of each class.  The schedule for lessons is as follows:  Watercolor Magic from February through March and Mixed Media from April through May.  The first class is free if you bring all necessary supplies (to be announced soon)!

This Friday, February 3^rd is the last dress down day for those who purchased Dress Down Day’s.  There will be a chance to get more DDD’s when Race for Education labels are sent home…more details to come.

Last Chance to order a yearbook! – If you didn’t order a yearbook at the beginning of the year and you still want to, now is your chance!  I am attaching a copy of the last yearbook order form.  The order and payment of $25 must be in to the school office by Friday, February 17^th.  No late orders will be taken!

Teens for Jeans – 1 in 3 homeless people in the U.S. is under the age of 18, and one of the first items they ask for when reaching a shelter is jeans. You can do something about teen homeless. From January 16 to February 12, we are collecting jeans for homeless teens.  There is a box in the school lobby for you to put your jeans.  There are also coupons for 25% off your next pair of jeans at Aeropostale when you donate a pair of jeans to the box.  The school that collects the most jeans wins $5,000, new Aeropostale jeans for EVERY student and a party!

Intramural Basketball Parents – We have been experiencing problems with unsupervised children playing in the halls, cafe’ and gym closet during Saturday games and weekday practices. This past week, during the intramural games on Saturday and during the intramural practices this week, we had student artwork pulled off the wall, children were observed jumping on the cafe’ furniture and throwing balls in the hallway and cafe and a child threw up in the gym closet. Please understand that children must be supervised at all times and are not to be left free to roam the halls or play in the cafe.  Thank you for your help with this matter.

BOX TOPS FOR EDUCATION DUE!! – Parents, we want to thank you for everyone that has donated their Box Tops for Education to our school.  So far this year we have made a little over $300 turning in the box tops.  We are a little behind where we were last year so we are trying to make it fun by attaching some collection sheets for the kids to fill in.  Each collection sheet has 10 spaces on it.  The kids can tape or glue their box tops on these sheets and then color them and turn them into the school office.  All box tops are due by February 25^th.

Friday, February 10^th is Eagle’s Nest’s Homecoming Game at 4:00pm.  Eagle’s Nest will be playing Epworth Christian Academy.  Everyone is invited to the basketball game, including all ENCA graduates, HOWEVER, the after game activities are only for Epworth players and Eagle’s Nest’s 5^th through 8^th graders.    NO SIBLINGS PLEASE!  The Eagle’s Nest Alumni are invited to the party after the game as well, but they would just need to pay $1 per slice of pizza.  There will be people here to monitor the after game activities which will be over at 8:30pm, so parents can pick their children up then.  PLEASE RSVP by FEBRUARY 1^ST to the sports department so we can have a count for food.

Staff appreciation meeting – The next staff appreciation meeting will be Friday, February 10^th at 8:15am in the cafeteria.  Please be sure to attend the meeting if you are interested in helping out with the Staff Appreciation week which is held March 26 – March 30.  Jenn Humes and a few others will be sitting in the school lobby after school a few days to get parents to sign up to help out with different things for the Staff Appreciation Week.  Please be sure to stop by and see Jenn and the others to see how you can help them out.

Our annual oldies but goodies basketball game will be held on Friday, February 17^th at 6:00pm.  The class with the most attendance to the game will win a free dress down day!  Stay tuned for more details.

Christmas Break Child Care – If you are going to need child care for your child during Christmas Break, please sign up at the school counter.  There will be child care available from 6:30am to 5:30pm from Tuesday, December 27^th through Friday, December 30^th and even though Thursday, December 22^nd is a 12:00pm dismissal, we will still have aftercare until 5:30pm.

Important!!! – When you are bringing your child in to the school and are using the school parking lot, PLEASE PARK IN A PARKING SPACE!  DO NOT JUST PULL IN OFF TO THE SIDE.  There have been several close calls of people almost rear ending some cars that are sitting in places other than parking places.

Also, if you are dropping your child off by the cafeteria door, please make sure they are totally away from the car and entering the cafeteria before you pull away.  Some cars have actually been pulling away with the doors still open when the children are getting out and this is not safe for the children.

And most importantly, please DO NOT SPEED through the parking lot!

Thank you for your consideration in this matter…we love our children and we know you do too!

ENCA Spelling Bee – Kylie Hutt, a fifth grader from Diane Lockwood’s class, won the ENCA Spelling Bee and will be participating in the Scripps National Spelling Bee at the state level on March 17, 2012 at St. Marks High School.  Her winning word was “condiment.”

Midway Speedway & Water Park discount information flyers are available at the front desk.  They have their pre-season water park passes on sale.  From 11/25 to 12/31 the water park passes are only $75 each which is $50 off of the regular price!  They have other specials as well.  I will attach a copy of the flyer as well in case you don’t get a chance to come in and get a copy.

“A Time To Dance” – Cheri Yerkes is teaching 3 different types of dancing classes for little girls.  There is “Mommy & Me” for 6 months to 3 years, Ballet for 9 years old to 15 years old and Jazz for 9 years old to 15 years old.  If you are interested, please pick up a pink flyer from the information table in the school lobby or contact Cheri Yerkes at 228-7413 or email her at cheriyerkes@comcast.net

Pre-Cotillion Classes – The National League of Junior Cotillions is holding Cotillion classes at the Rehoboth Beach Country Club.  If your child is in Kindergarten through 4^th grade and is interested, you can contact Lisa Chase at lisa.chase@nljc.com, call 302-242-0182 or see the flier on the Community Bulletin Board in the school lobby.

 ENCA Christmas Shop will be open from 8:30am to 2:30pm each day from Tuesday, December 13^th to Thursday, December 15^th (and possibly Friday, December 16^th) for your little ones to shop for their loved ones.  There will be gifts for them to purchase with prices ranging from $.25 to $20 with most things being from $2.00 to $4.00.

Christmas Shop Volunteers Needed – If you are able to help with the Christmas Shop in the school lobby on any of the days from December 13^th to the 16^th, please sign up on the volunteer sign-up sheet on the front desk.  There are 1 hour intervals on the sheet.  It’s fun to volunteer because you get to help the little one’s figure out what to get for their loved ones.  You will be blessed for sure!

 Christmas Break Child Care – If you are going to need child care for your child during Christmas Break, please sign up at the school counter.  There will be child care available from 6:30am to 5:30pm from Tuesday, December 27^th through Friday, December 30^th and even though Thursday, December 22^nd is a 12:00pm dismissal, we will still have aftercare until 5:30pm.

Wallet Found – There was a girl’s wallet found in the sanctuary the night of the Christmas Concert.  If you have lost a wallet, please come to the school office to see if it’s yours.
